What is Eleven and how does it work?
Eleven is the best way to collect important thoughts and questions between your 1:1s. The moment you feel frustration or confusion or inspiration, you simply launch the app, record what you’re feeling — what you really want to talk about, and save it for later. The person you’ve paired with will not be interrupted or alerted by any pings, emails, or notifications. They hear your message when they choose to intentionally look for it.
We have a lot of improvements and enhancements planned (like native apps, transcriptions, delete/archive, etc.) but Eleven will ALWAYS be the best way to capture the stuff you really want to talk about — later.
How do I “install” the app on iOS?
We have not yet shipped our native mobile or watch apps (but they are coming!) However, you can save the webpage to your home-screen and use it almost exactly like an app.
The basic steps are:
- Visit https://beta.getelevenapp.com/connections in Safari
- Click the Share button and scroll down to “Add to Home Screen”
- Click Add
- Launch the new “app” and login one more time to authenitcate the “app”
Who is “Eleven Feedback” in my connections?
Right now, mostly that is our CEO, Thomas. But, the whole Eleven team can listen and respond to messages there.
I only see “Eleven Feedback” in my connections. How come I’m not paired to the person who invited me?
To pair with someone, you do have to record and send your first message to them.
Click the invite link in their original message to get back to the pairing screen.
If you’re not sure what to say, you could just try something like, “Hey chief, this is Soandso McFirstname. Talk soon!”
And to record a message, you do have to give eleven access to your microphone. If you have any questions or run into any issues pairing with the person who invited you. Drop us a note at support@getelvenapp.com and we’ll get you sorted.
Why does my iOS browser re-ask me for mic access (almost) every time I record?
Annoying right? This is a known issue/annoyance with the way iOS does security on web pages, and a way they motivate companies to ship apps instead.
We’re going to keep exploring solutions, but meanwhile, this is expected behavior, and you simply have to re-agree to give access to record.
We look forward to shipping a native app that will take care of this once and for all.
How do I “install” the app on Android?
(We need to grab Android screenshots and instructions for saving to home screen or installing)
How can I invite other people to pair with me?
